Tournament Play

These rules are optional, and are not required for 'friendly' play. They are simply offered as guidelines on conducting Twilight Struggle as a competitive tournament game.

During tournament play, all cards held at the end of the round should be revealed to your opponent. This prevents accidental or deliberate holding of scoring cards.

Any player found holding a scoring card during the Reveal Held Card phase is said to have started an accidental nuclear war, and loses immediately.

During tournament play, the Soviet player should receive the first card of every deal. The deal should alternate back and forth between the players until they have received their full hand size. …



Ghost Tips



  1. Remember that the ghosts are a team. Try to move your ghost so that the other ghosts do not get blocked or forced to take long paths through the maze to reach their goal.

  2. When possible, move your ghost not just where PAC-MAN is, but where you think PAC-MAN will be on his next turn!

A. Name - The name of the card.

B. Cost - The number of coins necessary to purchase this card.

Tikal is the most important and largest of all Mayan sites. It is located in the midst of an impenetrable jungle in northern Guatemala. The Mayans lived in Tikal from 600 BC to 900 AD, but little is known of the civilization that thrived there for 1500 years.

As of this writing only a small fraction of the site has been excavated and investigated. Up to 4 expeditions plan to further explore the site to excavate and recover other temples and treasures.

Object of the Game

In the Cave players lead teams of speleologists exploring a newly discovered cave. They all start at a home base where they can equip their backpacks with equipment necessary to survive under- ground and overcome the obstacles encountered along the way.

In a series of expeditions speleologists will discover the secrets of new sections of the cave. Between expeditions they will return to the home base for additional equipment and to plan the next expedition. Explorers can also build a camp to help in their exploration. The game ends when the cave is completely explored. …



Object of the Game

With their mice, the players attempt to grab the famous cat in the sack. In the sack, there are both good and bad cats. Each player can also put a dog or rabbit into the sack instead of a cat, allowing players to bluff one another. At game end, all positive cats and mice count plus points, but negative cats count minus points.

Free-For-All (2+ players)

This is the default way to play. Randomly determine someone to go first, then play proceeds clockwise. Anyone can attack anyone else. The last player standing, wins! The Bonus Tiles



Front (yellow):

A player gains 9 VP's if they own at least 1 forum tile with this icon (bread, helmet, flame). Forum tiles must not be confused with Trajan tiles.

Back (gray):

Similar to front, but the player gains 6 VP's only.



Front (yellow):

A player gains 1 VP for each of their own workers in the construction district.

Back (gray):

Similar to front, but the player gains 1/2 VP only (rounded up).

Q: Is this a legal clue?

Yes. Any word is a legal clue as long as you believe it's a real word. This includes abbreviations like USA and the name of your favorite anime character. However, you are not allowed to indicate that your clue might be unusual in any way.


Q:Can I give a 10-letter clue?

Sure. Just pretend you have extra num- bered tokens and tell your friends where your pretend tokens should go.


Q:What if I see two Rs?

Don't say anything. If you see a clue that uses multiple Rs (like BERRY) you can use the same letter card twice, or you can use both letter cards. It's up to you. …
