Object of the Game

Beat your opponent by getting your pawns home first!

Setup

Shuffle the card deck and place it on the card space in the middle of the gameboard. Place all pawns in their Start spaces. Deal five cards to each player.

Game Play

The younger player goes first. Players move clockwise around the gameboard unless otherwise instructed.

On your turn:

  1. Play one of the cards from your hand and then draw a card.

  2. Place the card face up on the game board. If you run out of cards to draw, reshuffle the discard pile and place the cards face down in the center of the board.

Starting a Pawn

To move a pawn out of the Start space, you can play any card.

Moving Around the Board

Jumping, Bumping, and Other Moves

Pawns move clockwise around the board, unless a card instructs them otherwise.

  • You may jump over your own or another player's pawn if it is in your way, counting it as one space.

  • You may land on a space that's already occupied by an opponent's pawn. If this happens, bump that pawn back to its own color Start space.

  • Two pawns of the same color may never occupy the same space, except for Start and Home. If your only possible move would make you land on a space already occupied by one of your pawns, you forfeit your turn.

  • If at any time you cannot move, you forfeit your turn.

  • If at any time you can move, you must move, even if it would put you at a disadvantage.

Home

You may move into the Home space if you roll either the exact number of spaces ora higher numbers. So, if there are four spaces to reach Home and you roll a six, you may go Home.

Note that when you turn off of the white track, you must count two spaces to get Home, not one.

Slide

Any time you land by exact count on the triangle at the beginning of a Slide that includes your color, slide ahead to the end and Bump any pawns in your way - including your own! - back to their own Start spaces.

If you land on a Slide that does not include your color, don't slide, just stay put on the triangle.

The Cards

  • Move one of your pawns forward one space. You may play an additional card.

  • Move one of your pawns forward two spaces.

  • Move one of your pawns forward three spaces.

  • Move one of your pawns forward four spaces or switch with your opponent. You may not move your opponent out of their Start space.

  • Move one of your pawns forward five spaces.

  • Move one of your pawns forward six spaces or move your opponent's pawn backward six spaces.

  • Move one of your pawns forward seven spaces or split the forward move between two of your pawns.

  • Move one of your pawns forward eight spaces or split the forward move between two of your pawns.

  • Move a pawn from your start area to take the place of another player's pawn, which must return to its own start area. OR move one of your pawns forward two spaces.

If there is no pawn on your start or no opponent's pawn is on any space you can move to and you cannot move any of your pawns two spaces, you forfeit your turn.

End of the Game

The first player to get all three of their pawns into Home is the winner.
