Components
- 15 cards (numbered 1-15)
- 32 kamons
- 1 First Player token
- 1 rulebook
Object of the Game
Have the most kamons at the end of seven rounds.
Setup
Give each player 4 kamons. Place 8 kamons in a stack at the center of the table. Place any remaining kamons back in the box. The youngest player is the start player.
Game Play
Shuffle the cards and deal one to each player. All other cards are placed face-down in the middle of the table to form a deck.
Next, draw one card from the deck and place it face-up on the table. This card is "Kobayakawa". Kobayakawa is a special card that helps the player with the lowest number.
Each player then looks at his card without showing it to anyone else.
Each round is divided into two phases-the Draw phase and the Fight phase.
Draw Phase
Beginning with the start player and going clockwise, each player may do one of the following actions:
-
Draw one card from the deck and compare it with the card in your hand. Choose one card to keep. Discard the other face-up in front of you.
Draw 1 cord
Discord the card of your choice face-up in front of you
OR
-
Without looking, draw a card from the top of the deck to replace the current Kobayakawa card.
New Kobayakawa card
Continue until all players have taken a turn. Then the Fight phase begins.
Fight Phase
1 - Bet
Players decide in order whether to fight or pass. To fight, bet 1 of your kamons. To pass, do not bet a kamon.
2 - Fight
Once everyone has decided, only players in the fight reveal their cards. The player with the lowest-numbered card then adds the Kobayakawa card to his total.
The player with the highest total wins the round.
The winner of the round collects all kamons bet in the round, and adds 1 kamon from the center of the table. Players who lose all kamons are eliminated from the game.
In this fight, 8 is the lowest value. So we add the Kobayakawa card (7) to that value for a total of 15.
If more than one player has the highest number, whoever went first in the round wins. If you are the only player in the fight, you automatically win. You do not need to reveal your card.
This ends the round. The winner of the round becomes the new start player. Continue until only 2 kamons remain in the center.
Last Round
In the last round, you must bet 2 kamons to fight. The winner of the fight also wins both remaining kamons in the center. However, if you have only 1 kamon, you can bet it and fight.
End of the Game
After the end of the last round, count up all your kamons. The player with the most kamons wins.
