Villagers are found either in your stock; on a production or exchange building in their own or another player's village; in their own Village Center; at School; or as a "newborn" in a married couple's home in a production or exchange building.

There is no way to refuse a marriage or prevent it. No divorce, same-sex marriages or marriages between villagers belonging to the same player are allowed. If a villager has settled down (moved into a building), it remains there until the end of the game.

Villagers in Stock

Stay there until the use of the midwife and a couple in your own village allows you to bring them into play.

Villagers on a production or exchange building in your own village

Can use the function of the building (production or exchange of goods) as long as they are awake. Then they go to sleep.

Can get married by a villager belonging to another player of the opposite sex, whether they are asleep or awake (and their state doesn't change).

Can, when married, have 1 child per turn whether or not they are awake (and again, their state does not change).

Can be awoken by the Night Watchman, when asleep.

Remain there until the game ends. (They cannot leave their buildings in order to move to another village or to change buildings within the village).

Villagers on a production or exchange building in another player's village

Can use the ability of the building they are in, when awake. They then go to sleep.

Can be awoken by the Night Watchman, when asleep.

Remain there until the game ends. (They cannot leave their buildings in order to move to another village or to change buildings within the village).

Villagers in their own Village Center

Are automatically moved into new production or exchange buildings when built (awake).

Can be married into another player's village (awake).

Villagers in the School

Emerge from the School at the end of the round and are placed in one of your own, unoccupied production or exchange Building (if available), or otherwise are placed in the Village Center (awake)

Can be married into another player's village (awake).

Newly-born villagers in a production or exchange building
